Have you suffered an injury as a result of an accident in or near Burghead?
Do you live in or near Burghead, Moray?
Having to deal with the consequences of an accident are bad enough if you have not suffered a personal injury.
It can become much more complicated if you have been injured. You can quickly feel frustrated and vulnerable. If your injury is preventing you working, you may be losing earnings and already dealing with money worries on top of the pain and discomfort from your injuries.
We recommend all injured persons to seek independent, specialist, local legal advice from a solicitor as soon as possible following an accident.
You don’t need to go on to make a claim if you don’t want to but it is in your interests to be able to make an informed decision either way.
We are specialist solicitors and we are local.
Moray Claims is the trading name of Grigor & Young, Solicitors, Elgin and Forres, for personal injury compensation claims.
Marie Morrison and Peter Brash – our personal injury solicitors – are both accredited by the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) as Senior Litigators. The Elgin office of Grigor & Young is a corporate-accredited office through APIL.
Together, Marie and Peter have over 60 years’ experience in handling personal injury claims for clients in Moray.
Our local experience
Below, you will find details of the facts of a couple of cases with which we have dealt for clients in or around Burghead, over the last 5 years or so, and in which their claims for personal injury compensation were successful.
A civilian RAF employee from Elgin who was taking part in a training day at Roseisle Forest, Burghead, and suffered a spinal fracture whilst lifting heavy items as part of a team exercise. This was accepted to be a breach of the manual handling regulations.
A local authority employee from Burghead who was injured in a head-on collision with another vehicle on the A82 road between Inverness and Drumnadrochit. The other vehicle was on the wrong side of the road. This was a high-speed collision, with closing speed estimated as in excess of 80mph. Though the seatbelt and airbags probably prevented life-threatening injuries, it was a significant case of whiplash injuries.

What is the cost of making a personal injury claim?
The most relevant (though sometimes a bit hidden) issue with many personal injury claims is that you will lose 20% of your compensation – through a thing called a “Success fee” – if your claim is successful.
At Moray Claims at Grigor & Young LLP, we see our job as being to provide local specialist-solicitor advice so that (a) your personal injury claim is free if it fails and (b) it costs you no more than 10% of your compensation if your claim is successful (and sometimes, even then, it will still not cost you anything).
See this article elsewhere on this website: about how, if it is no win-no fee personal injury we are talking about, “getting 10 per cent off can be better for you than getting 20 per cent off”.
Should your claim be covered by civil legal aid, you will always receive 100 per cent of your compensation if your claim is successful. With no win-no fee claims, though, “20 per cent off” is the normaldeduction (possible because it is the maximum percentage deductiom permitted by the law). What this means is that, with us, “only 10 per cent off” is a better deal for you.
In a claim that is settled for £60,000, it’s the difference between you ending up with £48,000 in your hands or (with us) £54,000 in your hands.
You have nothing to lose by getting in touch with us for initial advice.
There is no charge for initial discussions and there is no obligation to proceed with a claim. Our priority is to make sure that everyone with a potential personal injury compensation claim gains access to justice through independent legal advice from a specialist, local solicitor. We fit that description if you are in Moray or if your accident occurred in Moray.
Whilst we will to be able to take on your claim directly, we will examine whether or not we are best placed to help you directly. If we think that another solicitor would be better able to help you in your particular circumstances, we will tell you honestly and we will assist you in finding a suitable specialist personal injury claim solicitor who is best suited to your circumstances.
